Frances House - Chora, Patmos

This vacation rental house is fully renovated in keeping
with traditional details. "Frances House" is located in Chora,
Patmos facing South on the Lee side of the island (the non-windy
side). Step into the "avli", the entryway garden is filled
with jasmine, bougainvillea, gardenia and more. To the right
under the hand hewn stone arch is a simple kitchen. Walk through
the doorway into the large salon living room.
"Avli" Garden
A splash of red, hand-stamped terracotta tiles warmly greets
you, as you enter the large 24 square meter living room of
FRANCES HOUSE. Two master-built, facing stone arches make
a statement in this room, which is softened by rich brown
wooden doors and windows, a stone fireplace, lovely island
antique furniture, photographs of Patmos, and antique engravings
of Patmos on the walls. A dining table opens to comfortably
seat eight people for private "at home" meals. A double door
opens to the Veranda Terrace and an unobstructed view of Mt.
Profit Elias, and the Aegean Sea, from this mountain village.
A small Veranda, protected from the summer "meltemi" winds,
is right outside the main living room. It offers beautiful
unobstructed views to the South, East and West, and is shaded
by bamboo. It has a stone bench with comfortable lounge pillows.
The outdoor dining table is just the spot for a quiet breakfast
of rich, creamy Greek yoghurt with honey and delicious, juicy
peaches, or evening cocktails before sunset. On the left,
a stairway leads to a huge, terracotta-tiled Roof Terrace
with all-around views, including the monastery. A wide built-in
stone bench is great for lounging in the sun.
The Roof Terrace has wide stone benches for those who wish
to lounge in the sun. It has great 360 degree views, Mt. Profit
Elias to the South, Kalikatsou and Gricou Bay to the East,
the Ikaria Sea to the West, and behind is the village of Chora
and the Monastery. After a full day of vacation in Patmos,
enter your comfortable master bedroom.
The Master Bedroom has a bedside window with a view to Mt.
Profit Elias, and a Qeensize "Sufa"-style raised bed. A door
leads to the ensuite bathroom, which has a mini-bathtub. The
Guest Bedroom is also Queensize, and both are furnished with
American sheets and luxurious bath towels. There is a separate
guest bathroom with toilet and shower, adjacent to the kitchen.

The Guest Bedroom has an antique four-poster bed trimmed
around the top by antique lace. The room is decorated with
hand-painted bottles by Patmian artist, Eleni. The window
has a view to Mt. Profit Elias. A small shell-shape sink provides
the convenience of cold water. This room is reached by a wide
wooden ladder through a trap door, very much in the "pirate"
style of years ago. It is romantic, and very COO-O-O-O-OL
in summer. Ready for an "ouzo", stop by the Kitchen.
The Arch covered Kitchen has a refrigerator, sink and electric
stove and oven for making simple meals. There is a separate
Guest bathroom with a shower, adjacent to the kitchen. Ready
for the Beach? On the south side of Chora, parking is available
nearby.
